Liverpool Airport General Aviation Users Association Data and Privacy Statement

 

The Liverpool Airport General Aviation Users Association (LAGAUA) is committed to respecting your privacy. This policy explains when and why we collect personal information from our members and prospective members, how we use the data we collect, the conditions under which we may disclose it to other organisations, and how we keep the data secure.

We may change our data policy from time to time and if we make material changes to it we will notify members of any change by email to the last email address provided to us.

Who are we?

LAGAUA is an association to represent and promote the interests and activities of private  aircraft operators and flying training organisations at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The organisation is an informal independent non-profit making group with elected volunteer officers and free membership.

 

When do we collect information from you?

The main occasion when we collect information from members and prospective members is when they apply to join LAGAUA by completing a membership application form.

 

What information do we collect?

We collect contact information such as names and postal addresses, email addresses and phone numbers.

 

Why do we collect this information?

We collect this information to administer your membership of the association and to enable us to communicate with you about our activities and your membership.  We collect and use this information for our legitimate business purposes including the efficient administration of the association and its finances and to enable us to inform you about what is going on in the association through newsletters and other means.  If it is necessary for other members of the association to contact you we will always endeavour to contact you to obtain your consent before disclosing your personal information.

In order to administer the affairs of the association more efficiently, the information we hold may be shared between the Executive members of the association’s organising committee.

In respect of any urgent matters we reserve the right to contact you by whatever means may be appropriate.  However in respect of routine non-urgent matters we will contact you by email.  We do however reserve the right to send you a periodic newsletter and other administrative communications by post if necessary.

 

How do we store your data?

We store members’ and prospective members’ data in paper format and in digital format on personal computer hard drives.  We undertake to use reasonable measures to keep your data safe bearing in mind the nature of the information we hold and that we have no paid administration staff and we rely on the goodwill of our honorary officers to administer the association.

The measures we use to protect your personal information are designed to provide a level of security appropriate to the risk of processing your personal information.  However, please be aware that no electronic transmission of information can be entirely secure. We cannot guarantee that the security measures that we have in place to safeguard personal information will never be defeated or fail, or that those measures will always be sufficient or effective.

 

Who will we share your information with?

We will never sell your data to any person, company or organisation.

We will only disclose your information to the police or law enforcement or regulatory authorities if required to do so by law

 

For how long will we keep your data?

For operational and administrative purposes we will keep your data for as long as you remain a member of LAGAUA and for a reasonable time thereafter not exceeding two years.  If you have given us information as a prospective member, we will remove your information on request.  Any request for the destruction of all or a specific item of data should be made to our secretary by email at secretary@liverpoolgausers.org.uk  or by post to the Secretary, LAGAUA 11 Norfolk Street, Liverpool, L1 0BE.

 

What are my data protection rights?

The UK’s Data Protection Act provides certain rights for individuals. Members and prospective members can exercise these rights by contacting our secretary by email at secretary@liverpoolgausers.org.uk or by post to the Secretary, LAGAUA 11 Norfolk Street, Liverpool, L1 0BE. We will respond to all requests we receive from individuals wishing to exercise their data protection rights in accordance with applicable data protection laws and we may require reasonable documentation to verify your identity prior to granting your request.

If you have any questions or concerns about how we use your personal information, please do not hesitate to let us know.  You also have the right to lodge any complaints with a relevant supervisory authority.
